Day One
Upon arrival into Moab, get settled into your RV site, cabin or your tent site. Make your way into town and park along North Main Street and tour the unique shops offering a variety of items to remember your trip. Moab definitely has some unique items; buy a birthday gift or an anniversary gift. Stop in the middle of town and have lunch at Fiesta Mexicana. Stop by Moab Adventure Center to see what kind of activities interest you. They can provide great recommendations to suit your personal tastes. Be sure to pick up any groceries or other necessities before making your way back to Moab Valley RV Resort. Stop in the office and let us make your reservations for the following few days.
Day Two
Eat a big breakfast for the day will be busy. Drive into town and board the bus for the Westwater River trip you’ll be taking all day. There are many companies in town that you can use, we recommend Canyon Voyages. They will give you quite a trip. Adrift Adventures is also a great company - they’ve run the river since 1978. After a busy day you’ll be tired - head back to Moab Valley RV Resort and soothe your body in our hot tub. After you’re relaxed enough to go out, grab some batteries or memory cards at Radio Shack/Royces Electronics. For dinner you’ll need to drive north on Hwy 191 for the old-fashioned western show and cowboy supper at Bar-M-Chuckwagon.
Day Three
Today you’ll have to rise early to enjoy the cool weather. Depart camp at 7:30 AM and drive 2 miles north on Hwy 191 to Arches National Park. Stop at the visitor center to learn about the interesting geography, history and future of Arches National Park. Climb back into your car and drive 0.5 miles to the top of the park and take a look at the many layers of rock that form the underside of Arches. Continue to Delicate Arch (about 14 miles) and hike 1 mile to see the Arch (take water and use good shoes - it is somewhat strenuous). Upon returning from the arch, have an early lunch. Drive to the end of Arches National Park and hike 10 minutes to Landscape Arch. Return to Moab Valley RV Resort and rest until dinner. An hour before dusk, board the bus for Canyonlands By Night dinner and light show. It’s an extremely unique, once-in-a-lifetime event. You won’t want to miss it.
Day Four
This is the day you’ve been waiting for. Highpoint Hummer & ATV is going to show you what makes Moab so special. After renting some of their coolest ATV’s, Scott and Lori will give you personalized advice and tell you where the best trails are to ride. If you choose, a knowledgeable tour guide will accompany you and highlight easily missed points of interest. After ATV’ing grab a bite to eat at the Moab Brewery and relax; after dinner you’re joining a Hummer tour. Take the 2 hour tour to get a taste of the extreme off-road capability of a Hummer. We prefer the 4 hour tour - this quenches your thirst for extreme adventure and fun.
Day Five
Yesterday was a tough day, so you’ll spend today discovering the beauty of Canyonlands National Park. You can drive yourself (rent a car at Arches Car Rental) or you can use Tag-A-Long Expeditions and have them do the driving. After breakfast, drive 8 miles north on Hwy 191 to Hwy 313. Here you’ll turn towards Canyonlands National Park and the beauty of this country will immediately be seen. Enjoy the peace, the quiet and the seemingly endless view as you gaze out into valleys, cliffs and even a possible meteor crater! After touring all day, spend the evening dining at Smitty's Golden Steak where you can enjoy the small town dining atmosphere (where the locals eat). Then see what adventure grabs you and enjoy the evening.
Day Six
It’s Jeepin’ time! Farabee’s Jeep has 4 door Rubicon’s: the whole family will fit. Canyonlands Jeep will also provide an excellent Jeep for the day. Load up the cooler with sandwiches from Pantelli's or Love Muffin Cafe and the kids and drive south on Hwy 191 to Hole 'N the Rock. Take the tour and then drive North on Hwy 191 to Kane Creek Canyon Rd trailhead (you’ll have to go through a gated fence to access it). Take note: Kane Creek is not easy and some off-road driving experience is recommended. Enjoy the day winding through the back country and driving in, around and through Kane Creek. If you run into problems, be sure to call Moab 4X4 Outpost. They will provide emergency trail repairs if you decide to be crazy. Take plenty of pictures to share with friends. After emerging from the trail, head back to Moab Valley RV Resort and take a nap and prepare dinner. Enjoy the hot tub as you unwind from your adventure.
Day Seven
Moab has become a mountain biker paradise. With guests flying from all over the world to mountain bike here, we feel you need to experience a rocky path before you leave. After a hearty breakfast, make your way to Chile Pepper Bike Shop and rent your wheels for the day. Choosing a trail can be a daunting task, so ask the specialists for suggestions. We recommend doing the practice loop of the famous Slickrock Trail or making the Sovereign Loop. These are very different trails - but they're both fantastic and should be experienced while in Moab. If you feel dehydrated or you fell and broke your ribs, be sure to get it looked at. Visit Moab Immediate Care and X-ray (across the street from Wendy's) and get patched up before heading home.
You might be tired, but I'll bet you had fun. Now try to explain to your friends and family the Moab experience. Next year tell your boss you'll be gone for 2 weeks and take in more of Moab's activities. Thanks for coming! |
